Engineering Week 2023
We all got a great insight into how creative and exciting a career in Engineering can be!
This year’s focus was on building a world where nothing goes to waste - our ultimate goal for Earth!
In Ethical Ed we discussed and analysed how we would deal with industrial waste after watching The Earshot Prize Building a Waste Free World. We were hugely impressed with the ideas - the future is definitely safe with these guys.
Using only waste materials (old toys and plastic bags) students then created parachutes, and entered a competition to see whose would slowly descend towards the ground and land smoothly.
Working in groups or individually, there was great excitement and craic testing their parachutes!
Well done to Yulia, overall winner. We’d definitely trust your design to get us to ground safely!
As it’s Seachtain na Gaeilge, Technology students skilfully combined their cúpla focail with their innovation using the laser cutter and design software to produce fabulous key-rings. Even more impressive was the fact that these lovely pieces were created using only waste acrylic from the room!
